Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a type of martial art where you get taught a mix of ground fighting and submission grappling. Different BJJ techniques include how to take your opponent to the ground and how to keep control of them with weight placement. Next, you’ll learn the art of positioning and how to work towards the ‘’tap out’’.
While BJJ is a combative sport, it’s also useful in real life scenarios. This is because, even those of a smaller stature can use BJJ techniques such as grip, grappling, tactical skills and positional control to overcome much larger opponents. Alongside this, sparring (or rolling) is included in many classes to give students a chance to use the techniques they’ve learned in a real fight.
Muay Thai
Muay Thai (Thai boxing) is a combat sport and martial art that’s also the national sport of Thailand. It has roots originating from the military and dates back to around the 13th century. Inside our classes, students get taught stand up striking that uses a mix of fists, knees, elbows and shins, plus a range of clinching techniques.
Muay Thai involves the conditioning of the mind, body and spirit, that helps you feel great inside and out and confident to defend yourself in real life. Muay Thai training starts with learning basic stance and movement and then moves on to attacking and defense techniques. No matter your age or fitness level, we have a Muay Thai class that you’ll enjoy and get huge benefit from.
Boxing
Boxing is an ancient combat sport and martial art form that involves attack and defense with the fists. It’s a skill that can be used for fitness, self-defense and can be taken to an amateur and professional level. The main objective of boxing is to subdue or incapacitate an opponent so they no longer pose a threat.
Boxing classes aim to build your athleticism, power, speed and concentration and include a mix of drills, pad work, bag work and sparring. No matter your size, age or fitness level, our boxing classes will get you fitter, energised and more confident in your body and its abilities.
No Gi Grappling
No Gi Grappling is a form of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that focuses on ground fighting with chokes, joint locks and various hold positions. During a No Gi Grappling session you’ll be taught to leverage your balance, various techniques and body mechanics to subdue an opponent. From beginner to advanced, our instructors can accommodate all levels of training.
No Gi Grappling is basically done without the ‘’Gi’’ which is a traditional kimono, pants and belt. Because of this, No Gi Grappling is faster paced than its Gi counterpart and requires more speed and strength, plus more controlling grip sets and techniques, as there’s less clothing to grab onto.
